Claremorris sits in a valley, surrounded by rolling drumlins and hills. The town was established during the 18th century and is named after a Norman who came to Ireland in 1169.

  5. Ballintubber Abbey, a restored 13th century church, is well worth a visit, as is the ruins of St. Mary’s Carmelite Abbey (1288).
