Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024


Join us for the biggest Irish language festival of the year, Seachtain na Gaeilge. Mayo Library Service and Oifig na Gaeilge, Mayo County Council have organised a wide range of Irish language and bilingual events including workshops, talks, performance, childrens activities and more. Siar bóithrín na smaointe: folklore morning with Dúchas.ie

A member of the Dúchas.ie team will give an introduction to the site, including techniques for searching for folklore material. We will also have a chance to explore some of the rich material available on the site from the Cill Chomáin area and wider Iorras Gaeltacht, including stories, photographs and recordings. Followed by refreshments.

This talk will be conducted fully in Irish.

Potaí óir i bhfolach: An insight into folklore material from County Mayo on Dúchas.ie

A member of the Dúchas.ie will give an introduction to the site, including techniques for searching for folklore material. We will also have a chance to explore some of the rich material available on the site from County Mayo, including stories, photographs and recordings. Followed by refereshments.

Online talk with Professor Seán Ó Riain, Maynooth University

In this talk, Professor Seán Ó Riain will examine growth in the Irish economy in recent years, including the opportunties and challenges this holds for County Mayo and the wider country.
