Services in Irish

Promotion of the Irish Language in Mayo

We promote a wide range of Irish language activities in Mayo. In order to create opportunities for people to meet and speak Irish we have arranged a series of monthly Irish Lunches ‘Maidin Chaife’ in Castlebar, Ballinrobe, Kiltimagh, Ballina and Westport.

The ‘Maidin Chaife’ have proven very successful in providing all kinds of Irish speakers, from the fluent, to those learning the language,to those who only rarely use Irish, a chance to come and use their ‘cúpla focal’ in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. All are welcome!

Through schools and educational bodies, festivals, arts and culture events we run get-togethers, competitions and information sessions, to help foster and educate in the Irish language. We work with local and national organisations such as Togra Mhaigh Eo de Chonradh na Gaeilge and Foras na Gaeilge as well as organising events and promotional activities as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Mhaigh Eo.

If you are interested in joining us at any of our ‘Maidin Chaife’ please feel free to contact us.
