Road Safety

Welcome to Mayo County Council’s Road Safety Section.

Over 1,500 kilometres of national, regional and local roads are under the management of the council and we continually invest in the maintenance and improvement of our roads.

It is the mission of our Road Safety Office to reduce the risk of danger on these roads and ultimately, to save lives. This is done in a variety of ways: from investing in infrastructure, to raising the level of awareness and education about road safety issues throughout Mayo.

While the council is responsible for overseeing this activity, our county’s roads are a public asset, which means they belong to you! We are all responsible for ensuring that our roads are as safe as they possibly can be. Whether as a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist – we all have a duty to protect one another and to use our roads in a safe and responsible manner.

For tips on how to do so, continue to browse our website. If you require more information, please feel free to contact us
