Public Art Online Event for Mayo Artists
Hosted by Mayo County Council Arts Service for Mayo Artists interested in learning more about Public Art, the Percent for Art Scheme and Public Art Commissions; application and delivery. These online sessions are suitable for artists from all artforms and will encourage artists to put their best foot forward when writing proposals for Public Art commissions.
UPCOMING EVENT:
Online talk: Case Studies in Community Engagement in Public Art with Jo Breckon, Co- Director, Studio Response, Cardiff, Wales. Thursday 10th June, 11am – 12.15pm.
Jo will present a review of different approaches to community engagement across a range of Studio Response commissions. In doing so she will explore what is meant by community engagement, what it sets out to achieve and why a requirement for community engagement as part of a public art brief shouldn’t put artists off applying. There will be time for Q&A and discussion after the talk.
Biography
Jo has more than twenty years’ experience of programme development, delivery and management in the arts. She has been working with public art since 2005, and has particular interest and expertise in commissioning both temporary and permanent work within a healthcare context, and in broadening the artforms associated with public art commissioning. Jo has expertise in strategic planning, research and analysis and public policy for the arts in Wales. Jo has an MA (Oxon) in English Language and Literature, and an MA in European Cultural Policy and Administration from the Centre for Cultural Policy Studies at the University of Warwick.

At Studio Response we believe that artists can enrich the quality of our public spaces and we work with artists to respond creatively to the people, place, culture, heritage and aspirations of neighbourhoods, towns and cities across the UK, and internationally. Public Art – from Proposal to Delivery Online Workshop and One-on-One Feedback Clinics for Mayo Artists with Annette Moloney, socially engaged curator, commissioner and collaborator.
Wednesday 12 May 2021, 14:00 – 16:00pm Workshop: Public Art – from Proposal to Delivery.
In this online session for artists interested in public art, Annette Moloney will give advice on writing proposals and an overview of the steps involved in delivering a public art commission. This practical workshop is suitable for artists from all artforms.
Thursday 13 May 2021, 14:00 – 17:00pm One-on-One Feedback Clinics: available for Artists to pre-book.
A limited number of one to one online feedback clinic (20 - 25 minutes) are available with Annette Moloney. For the clinics artists are asked to submit something for review and feedback (by the Monday 10th May at 11:00), such as a draft proposal, recent application, CV or material for a project, residency, commission, or a current challenge or question they may have about their arts practice.
