N5 Westport to Turlough Road - Temporary Closing of Roads

Essential works are programmed to be carried out on the N5 Dual Carriageway from the N5 dual carriageway/N5 single carriageway Roundabout in Westport to the N5/R309 Roundabout at Turlough over five nights in the period commencing Sunday, 30 July 2023 to Friday 11 August 2023.

The works primarily involve landscape maintenance of the verges of the dual carriageway and the decision to close the road on these nights are for the safety of the workers involved.

The notice advertised in the local papers was to prepare the public for these nightly closures, which will happen from 7pm to 6am the following morning. Advanced notification of the exact nightly closure dates will be advertised  and variable messaging signs boards on the approach roads to the dual carriageway. Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted.

If the essential maintenance works are completed early each night or during the period identified, the full extent of the advertised road closure period and times will not be used.
