Central Credit Register

Mayo County Council, like all credit providers are obliged to submit credit information and personal information on loans of €500 or more to the Central Credit Register.

The Central Credit Register is a mandatory database of credit information established by the Central Bank, under the Credit Reporting Act 2013, as amended.

Borrowers have the right to request their credit report at any time, free of charge(subject to fair usage) to see what credit information lenders have on them, while lenders can access the CCR for monitoring repayments and to assist in deciding new loan applications.

Further information on the provision and use of the credit information is available on the designated website www.centralcreditregister.ie and www.centralbank.ie

The Central Bank have also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Statistics Office on the transfer of personal and credit information from the CCR.

The CSO has published a comprehensive FAQ which is available HERE on this information transfer.
