Timescale: between February 2023 to February 2024.

Deadline: 9th December 2022.

Budget:  €22,000 -  €66,000.

Overview:

Mayo County Council under the Per Cent for Art Scheme invite artist(s) to submit proposals for a public art commission.  Proposals are welcome from both individuals and collaborative artistic teams.

The purpose of the percent for art scheme is to commission artists to create new and ambitious work. Proposed outcomes can be ephemeral, temporary or semi-permanent in nature. In line with the Percent for Art National Guidelines 2004, the commission is open to all art forms.

The commission will focus on the following locations and their communities: Islandeady, Breaffy and Turlough – Parke with a budget of €22,000 per location. There will be three individual projects to the value of €22,000. Artist(s) are welcome to apply to work in more than one  location as part of the commission. Therefore, the options for interested artist(s) is as follows:

• One project in one location for €22,000

• Two projects in two locations to the value of €44,000

• Three projects in three locations for €66,000.

This project is part of Mayo County Council’s Public Art Programme, funded under the Per Cent for Art Scheme by Transport Infrastructure Ireland as part of the N5 Westport to Turlough Road Project and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. 

Competition: This is a Stage Two Stage Open Competition.

  • Deadline for queries is 7th December 2022.
  • Closing date for receipt of application 9th December 2022.
  • Public Art Project complete by February 2024
