Connecting Up - (Imagination, Body, Voice, Feelings)

Max Hafler was a regular teacher at Galway Youth Theatre for twelve years and worked as the Voice coach for what was the National Association of Youth Drama (Now Youth Theatre Ireland) travelling the country's youth theatres. In addition to directing professionally, he has directed several youth theatre productions including The Trial, The Midnight Court, Spring Awakening, Macbeth and Midsummer Night's Dream. He teaches ensemble and Chekhov technique at University of Galway and runs an online and in the room company for the Michael Chekhov technique called Chekhov Training and Performance Ireland. He is the author of many plays and two acting books for Teachers, Teaching Voice (NHB 2016) and "What Country, Friends is This?" Shakespeare and Young Performers. (NHB 2021)

Workshop Description: We need to make connections between Voice, Body, imagination and feelings if we are going to perform well. This workshop is going to be a fun exploration connecting all these elements both in ourselves and with each other when we are acting, using exercises games and improv and some bits of text.

Supported by Creative Ireland with support from Mayo County Council Arts Service. The New Stage Youth Theatre, Foxford are in the process of affiliation with Youth Theatre Ireland.
