Special and Postal Voters Lists 2023/2024
A new Register of Electors is prepared each year and preparatory work has now commenced on the Register which will come into force on 15th February, 2023.
Special Voters List
If you have a physical illness or physical disability that is likely to continue for the duration of the Register of Electors (12 months from 15th February, 2023) and you are ordinarily resident in a hospital, in a home or similar institution for persons with a physical illness or physical disability, you should now apply for inclusion in the Special Voters List.
Postal Voters Lists
(A) Disabled Postal Voters List
If you have an illness or disability and you wish to vote by post from your home, you should apply now to go on the Postal Voters List.
You may only apply for entry on this List, if:
(i) You are unable to go in person to vote at your polling station due to illness or disability, and;
(ii) The illness or disability is likely to continue for the duration of the Register (12 months from 15th February, 2023) to which the application relates.
(B) Postal Voters List - Circumstances of Occupation/Education
If you are likely to be unable to go in person on polling day at an election or referendum to vote at your polling station because of the circumstances of occupation, service or employment, you may apply for entry in the Postal Voters List.
An elector participating on a full time basis on an educational course of study at an educational institution in the State and who is likely to be unable to go in person on polling day to vote at his or her polling station, may also apply to be included in the Postal Voters List.
(C) Postal Voters List - Prisoners
If you are unable to vote at your polling station because you are in prison as a result of an order of a court, you may apply for entry in the Postal Voters List. A person detained in any premises in legal custody shall be registered in the place where he/she would have been residing but for the fact of their detention.
Application Forms are available in prisons.
If you wish to obtain an Application Form for inclusion on the Postal or Special Voters Lists (excluding the Postal Voters List for Prisoners), please contact the Corporate Development Section, Mayo County Council at (094) 9064142 / 9064135 or registerofelectors@mayococo.ie during normal office hours or visit www.mayo.ie.
Completed Application Forms must be returned to the Registration Authority, Mayo County Council not later than 25th November, 2022 for inclusion in the Special and Postal Voters Lists for 2023/2024.

Liosta Vótálaithe Speisialta
Má tá tinneas coirp nó míchumas coirp ort ar dócha go leanfaidh sé ar aghaidh i rith Cláir na dToghthóirí (12 mí ón 15ú Feabhra, 2023) agus má bhíonn tú i do chónaí san ospidéal, in áras nó in institiúid dá leithead do dhaoine le tinneas coirp nó míchumas coirp de ghnáth, ba chóir duit cuir isteach ar chuimsiú ar an Liosta Vótálaithe Speisialta.
Liosta Vótálaithe Poist
(A) Liosta de Vótálaithe Poist faoi Mhíchumais
Má tá tinneas nó míchumas ort agus ba mhaith leat do vóta a chaitheamh tríd é a phostáil ó do theach, ba chóir duit cuir isteach ar an Liosta Vótálaithe Poist anois.
Caithfidh na gnéithe seo a leanas a bheith i gceist chun cur isteach ar an Liosta seo;
(i) Níl tú in ann dul agus do vóta a chaitheamh i d’ionad vótaíochta mar go bhfuil tinneas ní míchumas ort, agus
(ii) is dócha go leanfaidh an tinneas nó an míchumas ar aghaidh i rith tréimhse an Chláir (12 mí ón 15ú Feabhra, 2023) a bhaineann an t-iarratas leis.
(B) Liosta Vótálaithe Poist - Cúinsí Slí Bheatha/Oideachais.
Más dócha nach mbeidh tú in ann dul go dtí an ionad vótaíochta ag toghchán nó ag reifreann chun do vóta a chaitheamh mar gheall ar chúinsí shlí beatha, seirbhíse nó fostaíochta, is féidir leat iarratas a chur isteach chun a bheith ar an Liosta Vótálaithe Poist.
Is féidir le toghthóir atá ag freastail ar chúrsa oideachais ar bhonn lánaimseartha ag institiúid oideachais san Stát agus ar dócha nach mbeidh siad in ann dul chun a vóta a chaitheamh ag a hionad vótaíochta ar lá na vótála cuir isteach chun a bheith ar an Liosta Vótálaithe Poist.
(C) Liosta Vótálaithe Poist- Príosúnaigh
Mura bhfuil tú in ann dul chun do vóta a chaitheamh ag an ionad vótaíochta mar gheall go bhfuil tú sa phríosún mar thoradh ar ordú cúirte, is féidir leat cuir isteach chun a bheith ar an Liosta Vótálaithe Poist. Clárófar aon duine atá coinnithe i gcoimeád in aon áitreabh san áit a mbeadh sé/sí ina gcónaí mura mbeadh sé/sí coinnithe i gcoimeád.
