N17 Knock to Collooney [AEC] Project, Public Consultation No. 03

The Sligo National Roads Project Office have released the refined Feasible Options (the ‘Short List of Options’) for the N17 Knock to Collooney [Atlantic Economic Corridor] Project. In very simple terms, what this means is that the initial Feasible Options (or the Long List of Options) which were published in October of 2020 have now been reduced down to a smaller number (Please note that a preferred option has not yet been established).

The project specific website will continue to be used as the main platform to communicate information & updates to the public. Mapping of options can be accessed through and should be utilised in the first instance to establish the location of options. In addition, the ‘News, Publications & Submissions’ page will contain all information publicly available at this stage (including a Public Information Note).

For those who cannot access digital information; paper maps and other information will be provided at the following collection points:

In addition, two number hotel dates will be facilitated for those who specifically wish to meet with the project team (Mc William Park Hotel on the 21st of September; and, the Sligo Park Hotel on the 23rd of September). Booking for these meetings is strictly by appointment through calling 071 91 11990 (Booking opens from the 6th of September).

The corridors at this stage are 500 meters wide; this is much wider than what will be required for the final project form but provides the necessary scope to move and amend the design as the process evolves. This corridor will be narrowed down, once a preferred option is established and the project has moved through the next more detailed phase of design and environmental evaluation (2022 & 2023) which will also further examine aspects such as modal opportunities, geometry, junctions, road type, access requirements, ancillary infrastructure etc.

Submissions (See the project website for further details) should be made before 5pm on Friday the 15th of October 2021. All submission’s made during Public Consultation No. 02 have been retained by the Project Team for further review where they remain relevant to the refined Feasible Options.
