The theme of the convention was 'Mayo - The Connected County'. The highlight of the convention was the Gala banquet on Mayo Day, Saturday April 30th, which was broadcast on Irish TV.

Numerous other events celebrating Mayo Day took place right around the county, including celebrations in Castlebar, Westport, Ballina, Claremorris, Ballyhaunis, Ballinrobe and others, Mayo Day at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, The Official Mayo 1916 Commemoration Event, Ireland's Highest Networking event, Riverdance followed by the bringing of the worlds largest Mayo flag up the River Moy in Ballina and the launch of the Mayo Day card by Killasser Community Centre amongst others.

The day was further celebrated internationally, in particular with events in Manchester, Luton and Levenshulme in the UK.
