Retained Fire Fighter

Mayo County Council is currently setting up panels for the position of Retained Fire Fighter

  • Panels will be used to fill vacancies that may occur in our Fire Brigade units at Castlebar, Ballina, Westport, Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Ballyhaunis, Swinford, Kiltimagh, Achill Sound, Belmullet, Crossmolina and Charlestown Fire Stations.

Are you looking to start a new challenging career with Mayo Fire Service? Do you want to be part of a professional team providing a vital service to your local community? We are hosting a Recruitment Day, for interested candidates, at each of the above Fire Stations between midday and 4pm on Saturday 9th December 2023. At the forum you will get the chance to speak to our local crews directly and gain some insight into the various roles of the firefighter and what is expected of you to fulfil the role. The starting pay for new entrants will be at the minimum of the scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.
