Leave No Trace While Enjoying The Outdoors This Bank Holiday Weekend

Date: 30-04-2021

On this Mayo Day weekend, Mayo County Council calls on people to be responsible when enjoying the outdoors and to leave no trace.

Mayo County Council is calling on people right across the County to be responsible when visiting beaches, amenity areas and beauty spots. We have super facilities to enjoy but it is important to ensure that we keep our County litter free.

We are calling on the public who are out and about over the weekend, enjoying the outdoors, to ensure to take home their litter.

Mayo County Council would like to acknowledge the hard work of community groups and tidy towns groups who manage additional litter collections over the busy holiday months. This work is invaluable to our communities.

The Council can confirm that public toilet facilities at our blue flag beaches and amenity areas are open from this weekend.  We would like to remind the public to always exercise caution when near water.

As we embark on this holiday weekend, please be mindful of the Covid restrictions that remain in place.  In working together, we can look forward to brighter days ahead. Stay Safe
