Project Description

Mayo County Council in association with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is progressing the development of the above scheme along the N60 between the townlands of Lakeland Lower and Creaghanboy with localised junction improvement solutions being developed between Creaghanboy and Lagnamuck. The project will seek to address deficiencies of the existing road in terms of horizontal/vertical road alignment, cross section width, forward visibility and stopping sight distance at junctions.

Current Project Phase

The project is currently at final stages of Phase 2 (Option Selection) of the TII Project Management Guidelines.  Barry Transportation (BT) have been appointed by Mayo County Council to assist in the progression of the scheme through Phase 2 to 4.

Phase 2 involves the identification of the Study Area and Constraints, Assessment of Various Alternatives/Options to determine the Preferred Option.

Two options were shortlisted for analysis.

Following Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) of the two options under six criteria headings (Economy, Safety, Environment, Accessibility & Social Inclusion, Integration and Physical Activity) the preferred route corridor has emerged.
