Proposed Amendments to the Road Traffic Special Speed Limits Bye-laws 2018

In accordance with Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act 2004, due to the construction of the single carriageway N5 Northern Relief Road and the changes made to the N59 Newport Road as a result of the construction of the N5 Westport to Turlough Road Project, to improve safety for vulnerable road users and vehicles and to provide an appropriate road traffic speed for this new environment, the Proposed Amendments to the Mayo County Council Road Traffic Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws 2018 have been prepared and will be available for inspection during normal office hours (9:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 4:30pm) Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) from Tuesday, 07 May 2024, to Wednesday, 05 June 2024 (both dates inclusive) at the following locations:

Westport Municipal District Office, Altamont Street, Westport, Co. Mayo F28 W248
Road Design Office, Floor 2, Aras an Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar, F23 WF90;
Mayo National Roads Office, Glenparke House, The Mall, Castlebar, F23 XF40

The Proposed Amendments and accompanying maps will also be available to view online at www.speedlimits.ie during the above dates.

Submissions/observations on the Proposed Amendments may be made:

by post marked “Proposed Amendments to the Mayo County Council Road Traffic Special Speed Limits Bye-Laws 2018 (N5 & N59 Westport)” to Administrative Officer, Roads Section, Mayo County Council, Aras an Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar, Co. Mayo;
at the above Municipal District Office.

The latest date for receipt of Submissions and observations is Wednesday, 05 June 2024 at 4:30pm.
