Mayo Day 2017

Mayo Day 2017, the celebration of our 'Mayo-ness' in Mayo Communities worldwide took place on 29th April. Mayo People at home and away had opportunity to celebrate all that is great about their progressive, can-do County. This day was an opportunity for business, communities, families and individuals to celebrate who we are, and where we come from, a day in the calendar year that recognises Mayo and its people.

A wide range of events took place around the county for Mayo Day including the Mayo day Saturday Extravaganza at the Mall in Castlebar, a battle re-enactment of the Races of Castlebar, the L’Arbre de la LibertĂ© Conference at GMIT Mayo Campus, a live outdoor concert at the Military Quarter in Ballina; Fireworks, Fun and Food in Westport, Mayo Day Park Run in Claremorris, family community day on Bowers Walk in Ballinrobe and an evening with Brendan Grace in Swinford.

Mayo Day 2017 saw the release of 'Our Day', a stunning short film capturing the vast cinematic beauty of one of Ireland’s most rugged and best loved western counties that resonated not just with the people of Mayo but Irish people everywhere, whatever your county colours.
