fundraising concert which will take place in aid of Aisling Neary T.e.a.m. Nepal on October 26, featuring Annette Griffith, John Staunton and local singer harpist Brenda Grealis.

The Young at Heart Group is pleased to announce the visit of artist Caroline O Hara to arrange craft tuition activities for the members.
Caroline, who has graduated from Limerick University, is willing to share her artist skills, which has been featured and recognised on a number of the Limerick art journals, with our local Young at Heart Group.
Art classes are certain to be some of the autumn craft classes that our senior members will be undertaking under Caroline’s guidance.
Tom Doyle of the National Museum of Country Life has accommodated The Mayo Genealogy Group to set a number of Friday classes to help members research their family tree.
Steps set out to research the family tree, is to record their FAMILY STORIES/TALES, e.g. being told you, were related to……, parcels from America, visitors to your home, etc., may help break a “brick wall” at some stage.
1) Work backwards e.g. Newspaper Obits/clippings, Mass Cards, Letter, Diaries etc.,

Parent Baby and Toddler Groups
Turlough Community Centre on Tuesdays and Crimlin Community Centre on Thursdays is the location for gatherings of parent and young toddler for the great fun packed morning.
The Tuesday morning gathering in Turlough Community Centre, of parents and children is a hive of activity and a great opportunity for children to have social interaction and playtime.
The Turlough Centre is an ideal location for the mums /dads to meet for a coffee and a good chat.
The Turlough parent and baby group are currently requesting any donations of good quality toys and if you would like to make donations of toys please drop them to the community centre Turlough on Tuesday morning from 10 to 12 p.m.
Crimlin Parent and Toddler group take place every Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in Crimlin Community Centre.
It provides an oppurtinity for for babies, toddlers and pre-school children to meet along with parent, grandparent or minder. Refreshments will be available and it costs only €3 per family. New comers always welcome.
The Le CHEILE Community and Family Resource Centre in Castlebar has arranged a Flower Arranging for Christmas; it is a two day course to learn the basic of table arranging and wreath making.
Another course, catering for the spirit of Christmas is an essential oils making and bringing the spirit of Christmas into your home with essential oil.
This is delivered over two evenings in December and prior booking is necessary as places are limited to 15 people. Please book with Le Cheile FRC 094 9025126 as booking is required.
Bank Holiday Marathon
Yesterday’s Dublin City Marathon, was big outing for Bernard Joyce of Turlough and his fundraising for drive on behalf of the new cystic fibrosis unit which is being built at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar.
Bernard, who is well known in the music groups and choir singing circles, had great support at a great concert last week in the Welcome Inn, Castlebar in aid of this fundraising drive for Cystic Fibrosis.
Astro Turf Pitch
Parke GAA announced that Friday Night training has commenced on the Astroturf in Ballyvary.
Training for 3rd and 4th class boys from 7p.m. to 8 p.m. and at 8pm to 9pm for 5th and 6th class boys.
The football season finished for the girls underage teams, with an internal blitz in Parke pitch on Sunday last, played in glorious sunshine.
The under 13 girls defeated Breaffy in the championship quarter-final last Sunday morning and now take on Kiltane away on this Monday.
Club playing and training gear can be sourced from Turlough Stores.

Parke Ladies Club will recommence for the winter gathering this week and will meet every Monday and new members are welcome and old members are welcomed back.

Crimlin Arts has music back at the heart of the community by calling on all young and budding musicians to participate in the piping and percussion classes which are now up and running for an eight week, Saturday morning music course, aimed at the 7-14 year olds.
Students who attend the classes go on to join Batafada Samba Band and / or Crimlin Batafada Pipe Band. Both bands have an active performance schedule locally and nationally.
Crimlin Batafada Pipe Band performed in competitions in Wexford, Omagh, Malahide and Enniskillen and were placed 8th in the All Ireland Pipe Band Championships earlier this year.
Both Bands also played at St. Patrick’s Day parades around Mayo.
The bands also perform internationally with Crimlin Batafada Pipe Band attending the Europeade Festival in Germany in 2013 with the Samba Band performing at Disney World in Florida and theSavannah St. Patricks Day Festival in 2011.
The under 12 yr. members of the Turlough Community are keenly waiting the results of the Turlough XL Stores XL Halloween colouring competition with a prize and the declaration of the best colouring artist in the Turlough district in a competition that was open to children up to 12 years old.
This is a great example of the XL motto of ‘A Great Deal more at your local store’
An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny was the guest of honour at the official opening and blessing of the Parke Community Hall in Parke last Sunday.
The hall committee invited members of all the local groups in the surrounding area and members of the parish to join with them for this special occasion.
The hall is already active in accommodating a lot of local groups, like the Parke Musical Group preparing for their hit show ‘Annie’ and the indoor sport games activity of the Young at Heart Group.
Mass for the deceased members of the parish of Parke & Crimlin will be offered in the Church of the Holy Family, Parke on Monday, November 3. All names placed in the box before the Altar will be remembered in the Mass.
November is the month when we remember our faithful departed; there is no better way to remember them than in the Mass.
