Active Young at Heart
The local Young at Heart Group has started a very busy autumn progranne of activities, the group fitted-in a club sports morning last Thursday at Parke Community Centre followed in the afternoon, a visit to the Ballina Kennedy Centre for the dinner and dance gathering, hosted by the Ballina seniors.
This week the Y at H group started on Monday, with members attending the Mayo Sports Partnership regional indoor bowls competition
at Breaffy GAA sports complex with three teams of their members competing.
On Tuesday the members traveled by coach to Attymass to take part in a busy afternoon of Mass, dinner and dance with other visiting groups for an enjoyable and friendly gathering to honour the late Fr. Payton.
On Thursday, the club’s weekly activity at the Parke Community Centre will be adjourned to allow the Y.at H. Members attend and take part in the Mayo Go for Life sports gathering, where the members will participate in group sport activities that are designed for local sports competitions for all senior groups.
The Mayo Go for Life sports events at An Sportslan, Castlebar is arranged as inter club competition with other senior groups at the GAA sport complex.
A great racing night is arranged by the Parke GAA club at Stacks Bar, Castlebar, on Friday Nov. 14 in aid of the club’s development funds.
A great night with the Tote paying out on every race and club members from Parke, Turlough, Crimlin, Keelogues, Ballyvary and their Castlebar friends will know that their €20 fee will be helping the club’s development.

The Mayo Genealogy Group will hold the November gathering this Saturday Nov. 8 at 10-30a.m. at Turlough Park, National Museum and those interested in research of their Family Tree are invited to join in.
The genealogy group will also hold the third Friday lecture on Friday, Nov.7, at 4p.m. also at Turlough Park, which will feature on ‘Steps to Research your Family Tree.
Parke Ladies Club have recommenced for the winter last week, in Parke Community Hall and will meet again next Monday and every second Monday after that. New members are welcome and old members are welcomed back.
25 Card Drive
A 25 Drive Card Game will be held in Crimlin Community Centre on Thursday 6th November 2014 at 8.30 p.m. sharp in support of Western Care Association. €300 in prizes, spots on each game and raffle. Admission €10. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
The under 13 girls defeated Breaffy in the championship quarter-final last Sunday morning and now take on Kiltane away on this Monday. Best wishes to Darren Concannon who has been selected on the Mayo under 17 team for the Connacht league. Club playing and training gear can be sourced from Turlough Stores.
Turlough Harpist, Brenda Grealis, was the accompanist in a major a
fundraising concert which took take place in aid of Aisling Neary t.e.a.m. Nepal Fund.
This great music night, featuring Annette Griffith, John Staunton and local singer harpist Brenda Grealis wasto support Aisling’s charity project in Nepal.

The Young at Heart Group has arranged some art classes for members this autumn at Parke Community centre and are delighted to have had guidance and artistic skills from Caroline O Hara to arrange craft tuition activities for the members.
Caroline, who has graduated from Limerick University, is willing to share her artist skills, which has been featured and recognised on a number of the Limerick art journals, with our local Young at Heart Group.
Art classes are certain to be some of the autumn craft classes that our senior members will be undertaking under Caroline’s guidance.
Tom Doyle of the National Museum of Country Life has accommodated The Mayo Genealogy Group to set a number of Friday morning classes to help members research their family tree.
The steps set out to research the family tree, is to record their FAMILY STORIES/TALES, e.g. being told you, were related to……, parcels from America, visitors to your home, etc., may help break a “brick wall” at some stage.

Parent and Toddler Groups
Turlough Community Centre on Tuesdays and Crimlin Community Centre on Thursdays is the location for gatherings of parent and young toddler for the great fun packed morning.
The Tuesday morning gathering in Turlough Community Centre, of parents and children is a hive of activity and a great opportunity for children to have social interaction and playtime.
The Turlough Centre is an ideal location for the mums /dads to meet for a coffee and a good chat.
The Turlough parent and baby group are currently requesting any donations of good quality toys and if you would like to make donations of toys please drop them to the community centre Turlough on Tuesday morning from 10 to 12 p.m.
Crimlin Parent and Toddler group take place every Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in Crimlin Community Centre.
It provides an oppurtinity for for babies, toddlers and pre-school children to meet along with parent, grandparent or minder. Refreshments will be available and it costs only €3 per family. New comers always welcome.
The Le CHEILE Community and Family Resource Centre in Castlebar has arranged a Flower Arranging for Christmas; it is a two day course to learn the basic of table arranging and wreath making.
Another course, catering for the spirit of Christmas is an essential oils making and bringing the spirit of Christmas into your home with essential oil.
This is delivered over two evenings in December and prior booking is necessary as places are limited to 15 people. Please book with Le Cheile FRC 094 9025126 as booking is required
Astro Turf Pitch
Parke GAA announced that Friday Night training has commenced on the Astroturf in Ballyvary.
Training for 3rd and 4th class boys from 7p.m. to 8 p.m. and at 8pm to 9pm for 5th and 6th class boys.
The football season finished for the girls underage teams, with an internal blitz in Parke pitch on Sunday last, played in glorious sunshine.

Mass for the deceased members of the parish of Parke & Crimlin was offered in the Church of the Holy Family, Parke on Monday night, November 3, with deceased names remembered in the Mass.
November is the month when we remember our departed and make visits to our local cemetery.
