REMEMBER OUR DECEASED
Deceased members of the parish of Turlough, Parke & Crimlin were remembered in Mass that was offered in the Church of the Holy Family, Parke this Monday.
Traditionally November is the month when we remember our faithful departed and visiting cemeteries and attending to family graves there. May they Rest in Peace.
Was Pat Wallace, former director of The National Museum of Ireland, trying to take a swipe at An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, when he suggested on Marion Finuction’s RTE weekend programme on Sunday, November 2, that the National Museum Authority may have to close one of the smaller museums and suggested that it would be The National Museum of Country Life in Turlough Park, the museum in An Taoiseach’s constituencies.
Had Pat Wallace not paid many laudable tributes to our national museum in Turlough Park, on the occasion of his many visits to Turlough as National Museum Director, highlighting that the National Museum of Country Life was the national museum that was increasing its visitor numbers, and since its opening kept the attendances in Turlough Park each year way over their targeted figures, numbers of annual visitors in the 100,000 + bracket.
Yes, Pat Wallace is now kite flying in the true spirit of Sir Humphries, of the ‘Yes Minister TV’ and seeking to protect the funding to the board of the National Museum and the stream of his own retirement pension.
Turlough Park will host an interesting talk, on Saturday Nov.15, linked to the exhibition ‘Preserving the Peace: 200 years of Policing’.
Lar Joyce, Collins Barracks Art and Industry Curator and the curator of Soldiers and Chiefs one of the main exhibition displays in Collins Barracks, will be looking at how militia, yeomanry and watchmen kept the peace in troubling times and before the establishment or a policing force.
On Sunday Nov. 16 you are invited to join Teresa Clyne LLB for a Forensics and Criminology Talk at the National Museum, for an overview of early criminology and how it evolved over time and how criminology has become an integral part of analysing crime.
Teresa has had a lifelong interest in law, body language and the psychology of crime. Being one of the only legally qualified female private investigators in Ireland Teresa changed her career focus towards the educational side to teach others about forensic psychology and criminology.
If you are interested in attending, call the bookings office 094 9031751 to book a place on these once off talks.
