Mongey Opticians, Castlabar, has been shortlisted for an award in this year’s UK and Ireland Opticians Awards 2016 in the Family Optician of the Year category.
Mongey Opticians is a well-established practice operating in Castlebar for over 60 years, it was taken over a decade ago by Áine Higgins and Damien Brehony. In 2010 Áine won the award for Optician of the year and the practice was nominated for the Independent Practice of the Year in 2009.
Winning an Optician Award is one of the highest accolades optical professionals, practices and companies can achieve. The Optician Awards will be judged by a panel of experts specialising in different areas of optometry and the optical industry.
For over twenty years Optician has put together a programme of awards that seek to recognise and reward excellence across the profession, business and industry.
The gala dinner and awards ceremony for the annual Optician Awards will take place on Saturday 9th April, at the brand new cutting-edge Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham.
The Family Optician of the year Award will recognise and reward a practice that has family values at its heart. The judges will not only be looking for a practice that appeals to families but also a practice that employs family values in the way it is run. The judges will be looking for evidence of the mechanisms that encourage children, parents, grandparents or other relatives, to share and engage in eye care for the whole family.
