Minister announces 2.3 million euro updated senior alert scheme

A new national updated Senior Alert Scheme is being launched today by Minister for Rural and Community Development , Michael Ring.

The scheme will now allow up to two people in a house to join the home alert scheme that is triggered by a pendant in the home.

2.3 million euro in government funding has been announced today and the scheme will be administer by local Pobal groups.

The Minister told midwest News today he hopes that many people will apply for the new scheme that can make the elderly or those living alone feel safer in their homes.
