Martin Mulroe, from Greenaun, Tourmakeady made one of the most romantic gestures of the festive season when he proposed to his girlfriend in front of thousands of people at Dublin Airport last Friday.
Martin had arrived home from Australia for the holidays and decided to propose to his long term girlfriend Louise Mooney right there and then at the arrivals gate when she came to meet him. Fortunately for him she said ‘Yes’.
His girlfriend, or fiancée rather, Louise Mooney from Monaghan, had arrived at Dublin Airport to collect her partner of three years. Little did she realise that Martin had actually flown in hours beforehand to prepare to pop the question. With the help of the Dublin Airport staff Martin had arranged for flowers, cameras and a local choir to be on hand for when he popped the question.
The couple actually met in the airport exactly three years to the day. “We met in terminal two, three years ago now – exactly three years ago”, according to Martin.
Martin is the son of Ann and Seamus Mulroe, his older sister Aisling is training to be a nurse in Castlebar and his brother Shane who works in construction is recently engaged also.
