Mayo Manchester meet Diaspora Minister Joe McHugh TD on his first visit to Manchester

Lawrence Hennigan from Mayo Manchester Tourism and Business group was invited to meet Diaspora Minister Joe McHugh on his first visit to Manchester. The new minister for the Diaspora & International Development, Mr Joe McHugh, was making his first official visit to Manchester and the Northwest on Tuesday May 30th.

He was keen to meet with the Irish community at the Irish World Heritage Centre and to talk with the diaspora about some key matters of interest including the Irish government’s developing perspectives on Britain’s exit from the EU, voting rights for emigrants.

Lawrence Hennigan commented “It was great to meet the minister and tell him about our annual 6 Day Tradfest in Mayo. We invited him to our special fundraising concert for the Manchester Emergency fund on Saturday 5 August at the Ballina Arts Centre. The concert which will feature performers from Manchester and Mayo will be donating its profits to the fund which has been set up to look after the people who were killed or injured in the recent suicide bomb in Manchester.”
