Mayo Girls Scoop Farm Safety Award

Mayo students Katie Garrett and Jacinta Kelly won the inaugural special award for projects based on farm safety.
Mayo students Katie Garrett and Jacinta Kelly from the Jesus and Mary secondary school, Crossmolina won the farm safety award at the BT young Scienist and Technology exhibition.
The girls won the inaugural special award for projects based on farm safety, sponsored by ABP Food Group, for their project “safe farm code”

As part of the enagement with the event in the RDS Dublin, ABP held an exhibition space dedicated to farm safety. Attendees to the ABP Farm Safety Zone learned how to keep safe on farms and gathered tips to prevent farming accidents.
Farming accidents victims were also on hand to give their accounts to visitors of personal experience with farming accidents.
Speaking about the BTYSTE engagement, Seamus Banim of APB Food Group said “ as an organisation, farm safety is something we feel incredibly strong about as we have been impacted directly and know the real importance of education and a greater awareness of farm safety.
