Colour run participants in Kilkelly got doused in green and red on Mayo Day, May 4 last.
The run was the latest activity in a calendar of events in the East Mayo town, which are being organised by the Family Resource Centre. There were medals for all of the participants as well as refreshments in the Square afterward on a day when the sun shone on Kilkelly. Community development officer Laura Foye described the inaugural event as a great success. The Colour Run is only the beginning of a busy summer in Kilkelly with a fashion parade show-casing the pieces from the local charity shop planned in the coming months. It’s also hoped to have It’s A Knockout in Kilmovee in July. The inflatable obstacle course where teams battle their way to the finish line expected to be part of a family day in the village.
Meanwhile, the Festival is being organised for the August Bank Holiday weekend. A meeting to discuss plans will be held in the Kilkelly Family Resource Centre tonight (Monday) at 9 pm. Kilkelly has had a fantastic year to date with huge crowds turning out for the inaugural St.Patrick’s Day Parade in March.
