The Westport Festival of Chamber Music will take place on Friday 7th to Sunday 9th September this year.
The Festivals six concerts will be presented in Westport House, Westport Town Hall Theatre and Holy Trinity Church, three wonderful venues for chamber music in the delightful town on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Artistic Directors, violinist Catherine Leonard and pianist Hugh Tinney, have invited overseas guests The Heath Quartet, violinist Giovanni Guzzo, violist Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad, cellist Natalie Clein, tenor Tritschler and pianist Diana Ketler. They will be joined by Irish pianists Hugh Tinney and Michael McHale as well as flautist William Dowdall. The Next Generation Artists are Killian White (cello) and Gary Beecher (piano).
A broad range of music performed from solo to septet will include composers from Bach to Britten. Robin Tritschler, William Dowdall and Hugh Tinney will the Heath Quartet for Lowell Liebermann’s “A Poet to his Beloved). The full programme is on www.westportchambermusic.ie
Works by the well known masters such as Beethoven, Schubert and Mendelssohn will feature as well as occasional less known works.
Following the opening concert in Westport House on Friday evening, Saturday’s busy programme in the Town Hall Theatre will provide three concerts at 11.30am, 8pm and 10.30pm. Sunday will return to Westport House for the 11.30am concert with the Heath Quartet and the final concert at 2.30 will take place in Holy Trinity Church.
