Visit The Art Installation Especially Conceived For Dreamers
Opening Saturday June 15 For
Cruinniú Na nÓg 2019
Fly By Night is an art exhibition created especially for young people and for the child in all of us.
It offers up a space where the magic of our imagination opens up while we roam through sensory landscapes. This is a place where we become free to remember wonder.
Visitors to the art installation will interact with imaginary landscapes created through the use of fabric, paper and made objects.
Fly By Night is a visual and sensory experience inspired by the theme of sleep and dreaming. It is created by the artist Breda Mayock who is working on the installation with artist Mick Smyth and Mayo Artsquad.
Fly by Night is designed to stimulate the imagination and to surprise the senses. It appeals to the sleeper and the dreamer in all of us – we spend a large proportion of our lives asleep so we are very familiar with the landscapes of our dreams.
This is an opportunity for those who wish, to write down and leave a dream of their own with the dream beast – a soft sculpture at the centre of the installation – any dream and for any reason can be donated. This is an important way to personally interact with the piece – to visit and to leave a thought, a memory or a dream behind, by writing it down and placing it in the dream beast.
Funding from Creative Ireland Mayo for this project is gratefully acknowledged and Mayo County Council operates this scheme.
Fly by Night opens on 15 June at 11am until 5pm and will continue through out the following weeks at Ballina Civic Offices Exhibition Space on Arran Place in Ballina. For further information and opening hours of the exhibition email firstname.lastname@example.org
