Cleaner Community & Litter Action League Awards

The Cleaner Community Campaign now in its 26th year involves Community Groups, schools, and tidy towns committees, it is geared towards fostering a sense of pride in the local community’s surroundings. This competition has six categories ‘bloomin lovely’, sweep your street, best kept school, best kept burial ground, adopt a mile and coast boast.  This competition had prize winners from all over County Mayo.

The Litter Action League and Litter Action Community Competitions take place each year beginning in April and commencing in October with judging taking place each month and run on a league basis.  Towns and villages from the four corners of Mayo are represented in this competition.

The Environment Section of Mayo County Council hosted the annual Cleaner Community Campaign & Litter Action League awards ceremony in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, on Wednesday 29th November, 2017. The event which was well attended by representatives from Communities all across the County together with the Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr Richard Finn, Local Councillors, Chief Executive Mr Peter Hynes, Director of Services Mr John Condon and Ms Catherine McConnell, Head of Environment, Climate Change & Agriculture Mr. Martin Keating  and staff of the Environment Section. The results were as follows:
