Prior Warning Notices For Mayo Beaches

Mayo County Council are erecting Prior Warning Notices at the following beaches tomorrow morning for the weekend due to possible rainfall forecast over the next few days, the unpredictable nature of such and the possible impact on bathing water quality as a result. 

Westport Area:

  • Bertra Beach
  • The Point Westport
  • Old Head Beach
  • Carrowmore Beach
  • Clare Island Beach
  • Carrowniskey Beach

Achill Area:

  • Dooega Beach
  • Doogort Beach
  • Golden Strand Beach
  • Keel Beach
  • Keem Beach
  • Mulranny Beach

Belmullet Area:

  • Elly Bay Beach
  • Mullaghroe Beach
  • Rinroe Beach

Ballina Area:

  • Ross Beach

Copies of Prior Warning notices will be posted:

  • At each beach
  • On the EPA’s National Bathing water site (www.bathingwater.ie) for Identified Bathing Waters.

Sampling will be carried out as per regulatory requirements, samples are scheduled to be taken on Monday 22nd August.

We will provide further updates when results of scheduled samples have been received. The notices will remain in place until it is proven that there is no risk to bathers. If results show that there is a risk to bathers health, advice will be escalated in accordance with agreed national protocols.
