HSE Programmes


The Sláintecare Healthy Communities programme provides access to enhanced health and well-being programs within the pilot area, supporting people's well-being by providing better access to a range of services needed to help and improve and promote healthier lifestyle behaviours.

These programs include, Healthy Food Made Easy, Social Prescribing, Common Sense Parenting and the provision of free NRT with our We Can Quit group smoking cessation sessions and our one-to-one consultation stop smoking sessions.

The programmes involved will be delivered on a partnership basis by local voluntary organisations. These programmes are Free to all in the pilot area.

The Programmes Include:

Social Prescribing

Links people with supports in the community such as courses, classes, activities and events. Social prescribing allows a person to connect with others and this helps improve the individuals overall health and wellbeing.

Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME)

It is a 6 week nutrition and cookery course aimed at helping people of all ages to make affordable healthier choices when shopping, cooking and eating. These practical sessions focus on healthy eating on a budget & preparing simple family meals.

Parenting

Common Sense Parenting (CSP) is a positive parenting programme for parents of children aged 0-16, that is flexible, teaching parents practical ways to develop skills and strategies to use when interacting with their children, setting them up for success in their everyday lives. It will support parents to encourage positive behaviour and limit problem behaviour. Courses are available for parents of 0-5yrs and 6-16yrs.

Smoking Cessation                                                 

We Can Quit:              

STOP SMOKING

A Stop Smoking Advisor provides 1-1 support to smokers, helping people to quit smoking.

We Can Quit provides group by support helping people to stop smoking.

Free stop smoking medication is available.
