Community Engagement 2022 - 2023

Event: Your local stories about work industries

Friday 1st September 2023, 2 – 4.30pm.

 Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet.

Have you worked in one of the many local industries across the North Mayo region, such as textiles, peat harvesting, farming, fishing or others? If the answer is yes, we would love to hear from you.

Newly commissioned artists Hardeep Sahota and Tim Smith will work with the local community to gather stories of these lived experiences. There will be a presentation of the artists work and how it is inspired by local work industries. Afterwards people will have an opportunity to share their stories of their working lives.

Through this project the artists will explore the importance of industry, identity and place in order to celebrate the findings through a fusion of art, photography, dance, a specially commissioned soundscape and a short film.

Booking required contact: Aoife O’Toole, Mayo Arts Service, Mayo County Council, aotoole@mayococo.ie, 094 9064376.
