Mayo County Council Activate Flood Preparedness plans

An Orange rainfall warning has issued by Met Eireann. The Mayo County Council   Flood Preparedness Plan has come into operation and arrangements are being put in place in areas of the County that may be at higher risk and in particular the Town of Crossmolina.

Intense rainfall is expected at times Monday night and on Tuesday.  Falls of 40 to 60 mm are expected with surface flooding. The rainfall will further elevate river levels and may result in river flooding also

The warning is in place from 21.00hrs Monday 24th August to 21.00 Tuesday 25th August

We would like to assure the public that Mayo County Council will update you with further information as appropriate over next 24 hours and would request the co-operation of the Public until such time as the flood alert is stood down.
