Irish Water and Mayo County Council advise customers in Ballina and surrounding areas of disruption to supply due to a power supply issue

Irish Water is working with Mayo County Council to restore normal water supply to impacted customers in Ballina Town and Moygownagh, Lacken, Ballycastle, Bonniconlon, Kilfian and Killala following a power outage at Lisglennon Water Treatment Plant.
Impacted customers may experience lower than normal water pressure and in some instances, particularly on higher ground, may experience intermittent water outages. While handwashing remains a priority, Irish Water is appealing to all customers to conserve water as the reservoirs refill.
Small changes can have lasting results. For example:
- Take a shorter shower and save up to 10 litres of water per minute
- Fix dripping taps or leaking toilets in your home
- When brushing your teeth or shaving, turn off the tap and save up to 6 litres of water per minute
- Save and reuse water collected from baths, showers, and hand basins in the garden
- Avoid using paddling pools
- In the garden use a rose head watering can instead of a hose and aim for the roots
- If you need to wash your car, use a bucket and sponge instead of a hose

When Irish Water and Mayo County Council became aware of the disruption, crews were dispatched to investigate the issue and are working to restore normal water supply to impacted customers as quickly and as safely as possible, in adherence with HSE and Government guidance on COVID-19.

Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact, such as taking showers over baths and fixing dripping taps where it is possible to do so.
