Bealtaine Festival 2025 Brought A Jam-Packed Programme to Mayo in May
Date: 03-06-2025
As Mayo County Council Arts Service’s Bealtaine 2025 Festival draws to a close, we want to celebrate the incredible month-long programme of events that took place across the county.
Highlights of the festival included a wide selection of workshops, including poetry with Martina Evans, sean-nós singing with Colm Brennan, drawing with Clare Henderson, visual arts with Mayo Artsquad, and memoir-writing with Gerry Boland, performances in Swinford and Ballina District Hospitals from acclaimed musician, Emer Mayock, the launch of OnSight 2024/25: Silent Objects/Spoken Lives at the National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park, an artist’s talk from Colm Brennan at the Linenhall Arts Centre, and a performance of Beryl, a wild and wonderful circus show from Maria Corcoran in Sacred Heart Hospital Castlebar.
Taking place in the month of May, Bealtaine is the annual nationwide festival celebrating the arts and creativity as we age. The nationwide festival is run by Age & Opportunity, the national organisation that promotes active and engaged living as we get older.
Mayo County Council Arts Service runs an extensive Bealtaine programme every year, which includes workshops in various artistic disciplines, artist talks, performances in care settings, gallery tours, and a variety of other events. The festival would not be possible without the support of the Mayo County Council executive and elected members, the Arts Council, and all of the fantastic artists, audiences, venues and participants that bring the festival to life. Mayo County Council Arts Service would like to thank you all for your contribution to another jam-packed edition of our Bealtaine Festival.
