€35,000 allocated to 31 Mayo Sports Clubs in COVID19 Round 2 Support Funding

At a recent Mayo Sports Partnership committee meeting 31 Sports Clubs / Groups in the county were allocated a total of €35,000 under a 2nd round of COVID19 support funding. The scheme was particularly targeted at organisations who were not in receipt of support in round 1 in November 2020 and also at indoor activities.

Mayo Sports Partnership Chairman Cllr Michael Loftus welcomed the additional support for local clubs stating that minority and indoor sports in particular have been disproportionally affected by this ongoing Pandemic.
“ We were delighted to facilitate the allocation of funding to clubs under this small grant scheme. While allocated amounts are not big money it means a lot to local volunteers across Mayo that this support is made. It’s a recognition of all the fantastic work that our sports community do in raising the spirits and mental health of all in these challenging times” Loftus stated.
Clubs will be contacted by the Partnership about the finer details in drawing down the allocations with all payments aiming to be distributed before Christmas.
