Castlebar Sports Club Fair a great success. Up to 20 clubs reach out to Ukrainian and Local attendees.

Date: 16-06-2022

Sport clubs in Castlebar showcase their activities on June 13th in Breaffy House, Castlebar.

The event was a great success for both clubs looking for new members and individuals looking to find out about sporting opportunities.

Cathal Brady Sport Diversity Officer for Mayo Sports Partnership “As we come out of Covid, we want to encourage people to become more active.  We want to provide an opportunity for clubs to showcase their activities and for communities to see the many opportunities available to participate or volunteer within a local club”

Charlie Lambert Mayo Sports Partnership Sports Coordinator expressed that this is also an opportunity to welcome our newest neighbours, to introduce them to activities available and to help promote positive mental health by engaging in a sporting activity. Mayo Sports Partnerships Ukrainian liaison officer Natalia Guzenko was also available to translate on the night.

The initiative is the brainchild of the Mayo Sports Partnership with the hope that they increase awareness and engagement of sporting activities by bringing the information and clubs to one central point for the evening rather than new communities and groups struggling to find information on activities.
