National Museum of Ireland - Country Life

National Museum of Country Life

This is Ireland’s only national museum outside Dublin and is located in Turlough Park, 8km north east-east of Ireland. It is devoted to the story of Irish country life between 1850 and 1950: a world nostalgic to older visitors and a wonderland to be discovered by younger ones.

Ireland’s recent past is brought to life over 4 floors through displays of clothing, farming tools, craft implements and items related to pastimes, religion, education, hunting, fishing, trades, calendar customs and agriculture.

You can learn about harvest knots, wickerwork and spinning wheels here.

And there’s a great cafĂ© and a fine 800-year-old round tower.
