Explore The Roots of Your Heritage

Genealogy Centres
Mayo people can be found in every part of the globe, and many have played a prominent part in shaping the communities and countries they emigrated to. Among these are Admiral William Brown the Olympian Martin Sheridan and Michael Flatley
Mayo has two great Genealogy Centres, the North Mayo Heritage Centre and the South Mayo Family Research Centre, both of whom have professional genealogists who can assist with your research.
The centres, which are members of the Irish Family History Foundation, have a database of over two million records concerned exclusively with Co. Mayo. These range from parish baptism and marriage records, through civil records of births, marriages and deaths, to other records such as pension applications, voter’s lists, military records etc. The centres hold extensive records concerning local graveyards, and also have collections from parish magazines, local historical publications etc.
The centres specialise in researching and compiling personalised, detailed family history reports which are beautifully presented and offer a very personal means of learning about your ancestor’s lives. Application forms for their services can be downloaded here.
