    Mayo County Council can provide and maintain community tennis courts for members of the public to use such as hard, grass and synthetic grass surfaced courts.

    Mayo County Council can provide and maintain leisure centres which offer a range of facilities including swimming pools, gyms, fitness and personal training classes and swimming lessons.

  • Outdoor Gyms Provision

    Mayo County Council can provide and maintain outdoor gyms which offer a range of outdoor fitness equipment such as walkers, cross trainers, rowers and steppers.

  • Play and Recreation Strategy Consultation

    Mayo County Council prepare strategies to outline their policies and objectives for the development of play and recreation facilities such as playgrounds, play facilities and play opportunities for children. Members of the public can have input into these strategies through consultation.

  • Playing Pitch Letting Licence

    Sports clubs and community and voluntary organisations who wish to use council owned playing pitches may have to apply to the council for a licence.

  • Playing Pitch Letting Scheme

    Mayo County Council can allow members of the public to use council owned playing pitches during the playing season when they are not in use by licenced sports clubs or community and voluntary organisations.

  • Playing Pitches Condition Monitoring

    Mayo County Council monitor the condition of playing pitches to assess if they are suitable for use and can declare them unplayable if weather conditions have caused them damage or if maintenance works such as drainage, topdressing, re-seeding or re-turfing are required to make them playable.

    Mayo County Council can provide a programme of free events to the public throughout the year such as outdoor cinemas, outdoor markets, health and wellbeing events and children's events to attract the public to use the public parks in local areas.

  • Public Pitch and Putt Courses Provision

    Mayo County Council can provide and maintain pitch and putt courses for members of the public to use or become members of at an affordable price.

  • Public Playgrounds Information and Advice

    Mayo County Council provide information and advice to members of the public about public playgrounds including their location, available facilities, opening times and upcoming events.

  • Public Swimming Pools Grant

    Mayo County Council can provide financial assistance to swimming pool committees or providers to operate and maintain swimming pools which are jointly run by them and the council.

  • Watercraft Permit

    Anyone who wishes to use a jet-ski, water-ski or boat on lakes or waterways must apply to the council for a permit.
