Equality, Integration and Social Inclusion Services


  • Disability Access and Equality Initiatives

    Mayo County Council can run initiatives to support the provision of accessible services for people with disabilities such as accessible parking, disability friendly sports facilities, accessible bring banks and recycling units and assistive technology.

  • Disability Access and Equality Support

    Mayo County Council provide support to people with disabilities to help them access council services more easily by arranging supports such as easier access to council buildings, provision of sign interpreters, audio loops and information in accessible digital and print formats.

  • Disability Inclusion Strategy Consultation

    Mayo County Council prepare strategies to outline their plans and policies to provide for the needs of people with disabilities across areas such as housing, accessibility, employment, equality, inclusion and health and wellbeing. Members of the public can have input into these strategies through consultation.

  • Integration and Inclusion Initiatives

    Mayo County Council can develop and support initiatives to promote integration, social inclusion and equality for people who may be isolated or disadvantaged including National Day celebrations, Traveller and Roma Pride Week, Community Pride Initiatives and Social Inclusion Week.

  • Interagency Refugee Resettlement Programme

    Mayo County Council can, in conjunction with other agencies, facilitate the integration and resettlement of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Programme refugees through the coordination of services such as medical care, childcare, education, social and community supports and links to gardai and community safety.

  • Intercultural Cities Programme

    Mayo County Council can participate in the Intercultural Cities Programme to develop policies to promote societies which are multicultural, inclusive, equal, diverse and democratic and make designated cities attractive places to live, work, visit and invest in.

  • Intercultural Cities Strategy Consultation

    Mayo County Council can prepare strategies to outline their policies and objectives for developing designated cities as places where all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds have a sense of belonging and the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of city life. Members of the public can have input into these strategies through consultation.

  • Migrant Integration Forum Support

    Mayo County Council can establish and support forums to collaborate, network and provide a common voice for migrant communities working towards achieving social inclusion, integration and participation in the council's decision making process.

  • Migrant Integration Strategy Consultation

    Mayo County Council can prepare strategies to outline their policies and objectives to support migrants to integrate into local communities and raise awareness of their needs and ensure all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds have an opportunity to contribute to society. Members of the public can have input into these plans through consultation.

  • Traveller Interagency Group (TIG) Support

    Mayo County Council, in conjunction with other stakeholders, facilitate and support interagency groups to coordinate and improve the delivery of services to members of the travelling community.

  • Traveller Needs Assessment

    Mayo County Council, in conjunction with Traveller Interagency Groups (TIGs), can carry out an analysis of travellers' needs to inform them of issues affecting the travelling community and to plan for the development of services across areas such as education and training, health, sports and recreation and public safety.
