Two Mayo winners scoop Irish Fashion Innovation Awards

Two Mayo women have taken top honours at the prestigious Irish Fashion Innovation Awards in Galway.
Newport’s Lisa Ryder was named Accessory Designer of the Year, while Foxford’s Orla Sheridan scooped the Red Carpet Award from the stylish audience.
Lisa Ryder is a textile designer who studied in GMIT, with an MA at Glasgow School of Art, she spend a few years in London before returning to Newport to sell under her own name.
The focus of Lisa Ryder Designs is producing creative, unique and elegant women’s accessories with a strong focus on print.
Lisa is inspired by urban and rural landscapes and loves to create strong complimentary contrasts using these two different landscapes to inspire and create her eye popping prints.
The Newport woman’s work is fashion orientated and her collection drew gasps of appreciation from the audience.
She made history with her win at this year’s awards, having won in the same category in 2012 – a feat never accomplished by any designer before now.
Meanwhile designer Heidi Higgins had the unenviable task of picking the winner of the Red Carpet Award at the glittering event in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway, and it was Orla Sheridan, a Foxford native who was chosen as the winner and walked away with a weekend break for two in Mount Falcon Hotel, with spa treatments.She also recieved a beauty hamper and make-over from lancome and an exquisite piece of jewellery from Hartmann Jewwllers.
