Irish TV targets 40 million US viewers with new worldwide access deal with TATA

Westport based Irish TV have signed a new global media partnership deal with TATA Communications, the media partnership will bring IRISH TV across the USA to a new audience of viewers.

Irish TV, Ireland’s first international television station, will provide instant high definition access to their content across a range of platforms. Their content will now be available via Smart TVs as well as multiple formats including iOS, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast, and Apple TV.

The deal was announced at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas.

The service will be available to Irish TV viewers from July, providing access to 40 million viewers in America as well as Ireland and the UK via multinational giant TATA’s industry leading app.

Irish TV will now be able to offer an industry-leading suite of services to our viewers, such as on-demand, rewind and catch-up,” said Pierce O’Reilly, founder and CEO of Irish TV.

“We believe that OTT (Over The Top), or internet-based delivery, is the future of television, and we are delighted to be the first fully-fledged TV channel to partner and develop this new bespoke technology with Tata Communications”.

The OTT technology will allow us to offer geo-targeted content and advertising solutions to clients in various markets worldwide, and it will enable all content providers to deliver immediate content worldwide via Irish TV”.

Mayo’s Irish TV whose motto is to “broadcast local stories to a global audience” will celebrate its second anniversary in May and has already established production centers throughout Ireland and the UK  as well as opening offices in New York and regional content creation hubs in Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Washington and Austin, Texas.
