Get set for first Great Burrishoole Lakes Run

The first Great Burrishoole Lakes Run will take place on bank holiday Monday, August 6, at 9.30 a.m. in Newport.
Starting and finishing at Derradda Community Centre, the run takes you on a 18.5k route around Furnace and Treenbeg, with breath-taking beautiful views of Lough Furnace and Lough Feeagh as well as the magical Wild Nephin Beg Mountains.
There will also be a 10k fun run/walk option starting at 9.35 a.m. around Lough Furnace.
Registration starts from 8.30 a.m. and closes at 9.15 a.m. at Derradda. There will be parking available at Newport NS car park from where shuttle buses will be available to take you to the starting line at Derradda and back again to Newport after the race – parking at Derradda is limited.
Entry is €25 to take part in the main event – the 18.5km run – or €20 to take part in the 10k fun run/walk, with a special offer price of €40 for couples or pairs wishing to take part in both runs.
All who complete the 10k fun run/walk will receive a certificate of completion, while those who complete the main 18.5k event will receive a finisher’s medal and certificate of completion. There will also be super prizes for the first three male and female finishers as well as the first Over 40 male and female in the main event.
After the run you get to enjoy your pick of cakes and treats with tea and coffee back in the community centre in Derradda.
All monies from this event go to the local Burrishoole GAA Club. So why not drop by Newport this August bank holiday and enjoy the Grainne Uaile Festival and finish it off by taking in the beautiful views of the area while taking part in the first Great Burrishoole Lakes Run.
