Ballinrobe is a perfect area to enjoy walking and cycling tours throughout the South West area of the County.
The modern sports complex in Ballinrobe, with its newly equipped gymnasium is a fantastic facility which caters for visitors to the town. Saint Mary's Choral Society stages a musical performance annually and several plays are staged at this venue.
Ballinrobe has a very old tradition of racing. The only race course in Mayo is located in Ballinrobe and is one of only 4 in Connaught. It holds 5 race meetings a year. Ballinrobe Racecourse is located one mile from Ballinrobe on the main Castlebar road (N84). Racing has been held on the current course since it was purchased in 1921
Ballinrobe is very popular for angling. The proximity of the great lakes of Mask, Carra and Corrib to the town affords the angler a choice of waters not available anywhere else in Europe.
