      • The Great Western Greenway -Ireland’s premier cycling experience and International Award Winning European Destination of Excellence for 2011, the 42 km trail offers an exhilarating and safe experience for all the family, with gentle gradients along some of the most spectacular landscapes and seascapes in Europe. Use the Greenway to explore this unspoilt region.
      • Mulranny Loop Walk- described as ‘One of the Most Beautiful Loop Walks on this Island’ by the Irish Independent. The Mulranny Loop Walk is one of Irelands most exhilarating, diverse and beautiful walks.  It offers not only wild mountain scenery but also dramatic coastal views and seascapes. This 7km way marked walking trail requires a moderate level of fitness and a sharp eye to spot Mulranny’s Old Irish Goats.
      • Mulranny Causeway- Enjoy a family ramble along the unique causeway built across Trawoughter Bay in 1889. Take time to explore our spectacular marine coastal environment including Mulranny’s blue flag beach, Rosmurrevagh Machair, Mulranny Salt Marsh and Mulranny Pier.

      • Mulranny Village Market – A host of local producers selling in season fruit and vegetables, home baked foods, arts and crafts, jams and chutneys to name but a few. The market is held in the Amenity Centre, at the east entrance to the village.
      • Surfing - For the surfing enthusiast Mulranny offers plenty of opportunities to catch a wave. The plentiful bays around Mulranny provide great opportunities for all types of surfing including the very popular Kite Surfing and Wind Surfing.
      • Fishing - Mulranny is the perfect base in your quest for that dream catch.  It doesn’t matter what type of fishing floats your boat, be it sea or fresh water, there are plenty of fish in the sea here. Try a spot of lake fishing on nearby Lough Fiach or Lough Furnace or for the salt-water enthusiast, there are several sea angling operators in the area.

      • Yawl Racing - The Achill Yawl Festival (Cruinniú Bádóirí Acla) is an annual series of races involving traditional Achill yawl sailing boats. The races take place at various locations along Achill Sound and Mulranny during July and August every year.

      • Carraigahowley Castle (Rockfleet Castle)
        Built in the middle of the 16th century and standing just over 18 meters in height with four floors it stood as a formidable strong hold in that era. It was originally owned by Richard an Ierain Burke, literally translated as Iron Richard, a title given most likely as he controlled the Iron Works at nearby Burrishoole. Later it was owned by the Pirate Queen Grainuaile
      • Burrishoole Abbey a 15th Century Abbey which traces its foundation back to Dir Richard De Burgo (Burke)
      • The Athlantic Drive which starts in Mulranny is without doubt an awe inspiring and dramatic experience.
      • Ballycroy National Park is Ireland’s largest taking the largest expanse of intact blanket bog in Europe. The Special Protection Area is a breeding ground for Red Grosse, and Golden Plover. 
      • Croagh Patrick Mountain, Ireland’s holy mountain is rich in history stretching back to pre-Christianity times.
      • Ceide Fields – beneath the wild bog lands of North Mayo lies the Ceide Fields, the most extensive Stone Age monument in the world.
      • The Deserted Village at Slievemore on Achill Island consists of 80 to 100 stone cottages.   The settlement dates to the Anglo-Norman period (12th Century AD). The presence of a megalithic tomb close to the village, dating from the 3rd or 4th Century BC, indicates habitation in the area some 5000 years ago.

        • From Dublin follow the N5 from Dublin to Westport, take the N59 from Westport to Mulranny
        • From Galway take the N17 to Castlebar, the R311 to Newport and the N59 to Mulrann
      • By Bus:  Mulranny is served by a number of Regional  Bus Eireann routes.  For timetables and more information, visit Bus Eireann.
      • By Air:  You can fly to Knock Airport (IWAK) from a number of UK and European locations.  Visit the Ireland West Airport Knock website for schedules and carriers. Knock is 60 minutes drive away from Mulranny.
