National Treasures
A recent visit to the Dublin National Museum of Ireland indicated how fortunate we are in Mayo, having our share of exhibitions of National Treasures on display here at Turlough Park.
The display at Collins Barrack National Museum of replicas of our national treasures reproduction, as part of the Irish High Crosses exhibition there, included a replica of the Cross of Cong.
Our recent exhibition in Turlough Park, in the National Museum of Country Life exhibition from our National Treasures, had the original Cross of Cong in Turlough Park.
The reproduction of the Book of Kells on display at Collins Barracks National Museum is the same as the facsimile Book of Kells, which was on display for a number of years at Turlough Park House and which was recently taken to Dublin.
To see the original Cross of Cong, visitors to Dublin have now to go to the Archaeology Museum at Kildare where it is a star attraction at a new exhibition of National Treasures in association of the new opening of the Kildare Street museum, following the cross visit back to Mayo and Turlough Park for over a year..
