The unique concept driven by Mayo County Council, saw events take place in towns and villages around Mayo, while at the same time events were scheduled in Mayo Communities overseas.
We encouraged all Mayo Business to play their part, shops, bars, restaurants across the County to embrace the Inaugural Mayo Day celebrations. 'MAYO DAY LIVE'
One of the highlights of the Mayo Day celebrations was a 'Mayo Day Live’ TV show which was broadcast live from the Royal Theatre on 02 May. The two-hour live television show produced by Irish TV and broadcast on Sky channel 191 between 8pm and 10pm. The show was a celebration of County Mayo - its heritage, its culture and its people - and contained a mix of performances, music and chat in a gala-style setting.
The show featured a star-studded line-up of performers, characters and luminaries from County Mayo with An Taoiseach Enda Kenny delivering a live address from his hometown on the night.The night was hosted by TV personality and former Rose of Tralee Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabhain
